Tuesday, January 20 – AAUW FL Public Policy Issue Forum – 6:00 pm held via Zoom. Topic: Women in STEM – Increasing the number of women in STEM requires more than interventions designed for women. Camila Torres Rivera, M.A., M.Ed. (CUNY, Teacher’s College, Columbia University) explores how students’ own interpretations of academic challenges offer a more precise way to understand and allocate support. This talk presents a new, evidence-based approach that moves beyond demographics to ensure the right interventions reach the right students—advancing both equity and impact. Registration required.

Topic: Women’s Economic Security – Come hear Dr. Mary Gatta, Former AAUW FL Co-Public Policy Director share her latest research on the gender pay gap, caregiving and economic security. Tuesday, July 10 – Black Women’s Equal Pay Day – symbolizes the additional time Black women in the United States must work into the current year to earn what white, non-Hispanic men earned in the previous year.
Tuesday, August 26 – Women’s Equality Day – Commemorates the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. AAUW Flagler County members, guests, and potential new members are invited to join us for a “Dutch treat” lunch at Mezzaluna Pizzeria in the European Village, 101 Palm Harbor Pkwy in Palm Coast to mark the 105th anniversary of women’s suffrage.

Tuesday, September 9 – AAUW FL Public Policy Issue Forum – 6:00 pm held via Zoom. Topic: Book Bans and Public Education – AAUW members, Nancy Tray, St Johns County Organizer of Families for Strong Public Schools and Anne Tressler, Florida education advocate, will share the state of book bans in our Florida schools. She will examine the reasons behind these bans, the types of books most frequently targeted, and the impact of censorship on education and free speech, along with what we can do about book bans. Saturday, September 20 – Just for Fun, Florida Highwaymen Art Show – 11:00 am at Poppy’s True Market, 802 East Moody Blvd. in Bunnell. Join us to view a special art show featuring the work of Highwaymen Artist R.L. Lewis, have an opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy one of the great stories of Florida history. Friday, September 26 – Just for Fun, AAUW St. Augustine Film Festival – 6:30 – 9:30 pm at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine. The event is a fundraiser for Tech Trek and STEM camps and will feature refreshments, raffle baskets and interesting films BY and FOR Women. Tickets are $25 and are available on Eventbrite. - AAUW FL Public Policy Issue Forum – 6:00 pm held via Zoom. Topic: Florida Legislative Preview – Come learn about AAUW Florida’s work in Tallahassee this year. Dr. Pat DeWitt, AAUW Public Policy Director will share the upcoming AAUW Florida legislative agenda. This session will help ensure you are prepared for Lobby Days and provide you with an overview of our advocacy work. Registration required.
Friday, November 21 – Festival of Trees – 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Flagler County Public Library. Join us to see our beautiful tree decorated to reflect AAUW’s mission of supporting equity for women and girls. There will be over 40 trees and wreaths on display representing community organizations as well as musical entertainment and refreshments.
