Museum to Honor Flagler Suffragist Alice Scott Abbott

AAUW Flagler Women’s Vote Centennial Committee is working with the Flagler County Historical Society on a project to move the 1916 Seventh Day Adventist Church (attended by Flagler suffragist Alice Scott Abbott) back to Bunnell, next to the Holden House, and transform it into a Florida Women’s Voting Rights Museum.  The plan was presented before the Flagler Board of County Commissioners on September 8, 2020 and the vote was a unanimous YES to relocate the church, currently in Espanola, to Bunnell.  This was the first step in bringing the project to fruition.

The museum will tell the historic struggle women endured in winning the right to vote, plus teach children critical thinking skills by looking at 1920 social issues, platforms, and candidates, and then voting on a ballot!
