Thursday, November 14 – AAUW FL Public Policy Issue Forum – 6:00 pm held via Zoom.  Topic:  Addiction, Public Health & Criminal Justice.  Come hear Rutgers Professor Patricia Roos talk about her new, deeply personal book sharing her son’s struggles with mental health and addiction, that led to his death at twenty-five years old. Professor Roos will share ways to realign our public health and criminal justice policies to address the overdose crisis.  Registration required – Meeting Registration – Zoom

Monday, November 18 – Set Up AAUW Flagler Holiday Tree – 10:00 am at the Flagler County Public Library.  Our branch continues its tradition of participating in the community-wide holiday celebration, The Festival of Trees.

Friday, November 22 – Festival of Trees – 6:00 pm at the Flagler County Public Library.  Join us to see our beautiful tree decorated to reflect AAUW’s mission of supporting equity for women and girls. There will be over 40 trees and wreaths on display representing community organizations as well as musical entertainment and refreshments.

Thursday, January 9 – AAUW FL Public Policy Issue Forum – 6:00 pm held via Zoom.  Topic:  Black Girls in Florida Schools.  Bayliss Fiddiman, National Women’s Law Center, will join us to
discuss a case study of Black girls in Miami-Dade schools, and their experience with harsh school discipline policies. The girls reported harassment, harm, humiliation and other challenges.  The study provides recommendations to promote a positive school climate through holistic school safety. Registration required – Meeting Registration – Zoom

Moody Blvd., in Bunnell.  The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners will proclaim the month of March 2024 to be American Association of University Women Month in Flagler County at the beginning of its regularly scheduled meeting.

Friday, March 22 – Reading Women – 3:00 pm at the Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Pkwy, NW in Palm Coast.  We will participate in the Flagler County Public Library’s annual Flagler Reads Together program with the presentation, ‘An Afternoon with the Rabbi.’  Join Rabbi Merrill Shapiro for an enlightening discussion on the rich history of Judaism and the profound lessons learned from the Holocaust. This thought-provoking event promises to shed light on important historical narratives and foster understanding and empathy.  

Wednesday, March 27 – Reading Women – 3:00 pm at the Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Pkwy, NW in Palm Coast.  We will join the library’s Book Club for a discussion of The Little Liar by Mitch Albom, the book selected by the Flagler County Public Library for its annual Flagler Reads Together program.   Contact Susie Baird if you would like to attend.
